Comic-Con 2016: Power Rangers, Power Rangers, Power Rangers!

Lionsgate releases character posters for Comic-Con, and the cast will present at the MTV Fandom Awards LIVE at Petco Park!

If you’re a fan of the Power Rangers, Comic-Con just stole your heart. And if you can’t make it to Comic-Con, at least a part of the Comic-Con madness will be available on MTV! Yes, even MTV has gotten into the act, and takes over Petco Park on Saturday, July 23rd, for the MTV Fandom Awards (not to be confused with the AMC Fandom Awards tried a few years ago and hell, we should really try to start the Fanboy Planet Awards, this year to be given out in an alcove of the lobby of the Horton Grand Plaza). The MTV programming will air on Sunday, July 24th, at 8 p.m. ET on MTV. So if you can’t actually get in to Petco Park, you can catch it at your leisure.

What does that have to do with Power Rangers? In addition to Lionsgate releasing five character posters that will be available at Comic-Con (SWAG ALERT!), the five main cast members —  RJ Cyler (Billy: The Blue Ranger), Ludi Lin (Zack: The Black Ranger), Naomi Scott (Kimberly: The Pink Ranger), Becky G. (Trini: The Yellow Ranger), and Dacre Montgomery (Jason: The Red Ranger) — will be presenting awards! (The Fanboy Planet Awards will be presented by Jason Salazar. His costume has not been settled.)

No word on appearances from Elizabeth Banks (Rita Repulsa) or Bryan Cranston (Zardon), but come on — you’re getting the five Rangers, and if you don’t know them now, it’s safe to say that once this movie comes out in 2017, they’ll be all over the place. So catch them at the beginning!
