First Look at John Carter: The Gods of Mars #1!
The first time I heard of John Carter, Warlord of Mars, was when I walked into my local pharmacy and saw that logo on the spinner rack. With a dynamic Gil Kane cover and the Marvel red stripe, this young fanboy was hooked.
Later, of course, I picked up the novels with covers by Frank Frazetta, and Barsoom became one of those places that loomed large in my imagination.
In two weeks, Barsoom hits the big screen, so let me honor that by running these first look pictures from Marvel's upcoming tie-in book. Sure, you will see another book titled Warlord of Mars from another publisher, and it might even be good, but this is the one approved of by Edgar Rice Burroughs' estate and created by the same company that will be releasing the movie.
Perhaps film and comic will be tightly aligned. I don't know. All I know is that though I'm not a great fan of the cover, the interior art looks great. And notice, too, that it carries the All Ages tag.
