Guide Gets a Look at Smallville's Hawkman
Out
of deference to the fact that they're TV Guide and we're
Fanboy Planet, I've clipped a tiny, tiny preview of their
photo of Michael Shanks as Hawkman.
For
a variety of reasons, we haven't been able to cover Smallville
on a regular basis, focusing instead on Season DVDs
the last couple of years. The truth is, many episodes just
send fans into fits as the show dances around things we
already know.
But
when Smallville nails it -- and the last couple
of years, they've been doing so a little more often than
not -- they really nail it. Hence the Justice Society coming
to television, courtesy of writer Geoff Johns aka
The Man Who Has Not Slept Since 2007. TV Guide reports that
the two-part JSA episode will be pushed to February sweeps,
and rumored as a two-hour Friday night movie.
That's
a pretty smart move on the CW's part, because contrary to
everyone's expectations, Smallville's ratings have
been improving on Friday nights. I might also offer up that
it's because the show has gotten better -- but I can't prove
that, as they're all banked on my DVD right now.
Anyway,
the episodes feature Hawkman, Dr. Fate and Stargirl, and
if you click
over to their interview with Shanks, you'll see the
full photo that proves they're willing to give over to the
full superhero look. THAT'S a heck of a lot better Hawkman
outfit than they had on those old Butterfinger commercials...
