Both the fictional Sherlock Holmes and the real Harry Houdini spent their careers devoted to the rational. Granted, Houdini often made it seem otherwise. By no means would you expect they fit the Zenescope profile, except the venerable publisher always finds a way to make a well-known concept sexier than it has ever been before. That’s not a complaint; the publisher puts out compelling if vaguely salacious comics. So how do you make Holmes and Houdini fit the style? Focus on their descendants.
Promising secret societies, the requisite dark sorceries, and apocalyptic fun, Zenescope launches Holmes & Houdini in early 2024. Teaming characters who have had separate solo adventures for Zenescope, it’s a no-brainer. Written by Joe Bursha collaborating with artists Juan Francisco Mota, Gabriel Jardim, Leonardo Paciarotti, and letterer Taylor Esposito of Ghost Glyph Studios, Holmes & Houdini so far looks as mysterious as Sherlock likes it. Is the game afoot? Will it escape the comics shop and stand out on the shelves? We’ll see.
