Cold Slither — the heavy metal vengeance band fronted by notorious COBRA member Zartan — conquered San Diego at Comic-Con. Apparently. Finally, somebody played them some music other than their own, and they learned that New York is the place. If you can make it there, you’ll make it anywhere.
Thus, they’re invading New York City the same weekend as New York Comic Con. “Fusing nostalgia with a modern metal powerhouse,” Cold Slither plays at the Gramercy on October 11. And you can get tickets now.
Their album went on sale in June. So far, Cold Slither has conquered the charts (have they?) with two singles.
First, back in April, the band announced its escape from the original animated series with their anthem, “Cold Slither”:
Then, just in time for their SDCC exclusive action figure release, came “Zartan’s Revenge”:
Their label Reigning Phoenix Music promises a third single, ” Cobra Island.” About the concert, Zartan himself allegedly commented, “…it seems as though there are several potential recruits whom have a desire to join our small but elite society of Dreadnoks… This time in New York City! Our services are once again called upon by Cobra Commander and Reigning Phoenix Music to melt minds with Cold Slither! So be it, my Dreadnoks and I will see you all October 11th… Come prepared…Cobraaaaa!!”
I don’t know how effective the concert will be as a COBRA recruitment drive, but it could be a fun night.
However, I prefer their earlier, mellower stuff:
