Comic-Con 2015: Marvel Announces Elodie Yung As Elektra

Joe Quesada tweeted out this afternoon that the second season of Netflix’s Daredevil has finally cast its Elektra. ActElodie-Yung-Elektraress Elodie Yung (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) has taken the role of Elektra Natchios, referenced obliquely by Foggy Nelson (Eldon Henson) in the first season as Matt Murdock’s (Charlie Cox) college girlfriend.

The actress joins the already cast Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, The Punisher.

“After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity,” said Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb on Marvel’s website.

Yung had also appeared in District 13: Ultimatum, so the actress is well-suited for the intense action thatĀ fans will expect for the second season, due to stream in 2016. And as you can see from her costume in , she already pretty much looks the part.

If the show follows the comics, Elektra (created by Frank Miller) lost touch with Matt in college when her family’s crime connections tore her from the normal life she craved. Now trained as an assassin, the mysterious woman reappears in Matt’s life as he struggles to create order in Hell’s Kitchen. Pit her against The Punisher? Well, in one story, they had a date. We’ll see.

Expect Yung to make an appearance at the Marvel Television panel on Friday afternoon. (This is a prediction, not a guarantee.) Marvel will want to introduce her to the world.
