But I did get to ask other questions of writer/director Robert Ryan and Jason Stephens, the actor who puts the pop in Popeye.
We talked a couple of weeks ago, covering their long history collaborating on movies. That’s longer than you might think: it goes back to the 4th grade. Little did they dream they’d grow up and help Popeye through the public domain milestone of becoming a horror icon. Inspired by Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger, Jason Stephens just may be on to something in carving his own mark on that sailor man.
