Filmmaker Wes Hurley Dreams Of America

Potato Dreams of America

I first encountered Potato Dreams of America at Cinequest, as a short, brilliant VR experience called “Potato Dreams.” Wes Hurley’s artistry was clear then, so when I got an email talking about his expansion of the story into a feature, I had to know more.

Growing up queer in the Soviet Union but sustained by Hollywood comedies, young Wes Hurley was brought to America by his mother. Here, he became an accomplished filmmaker. He talks with me about his autobiographical dark comedy Potato Dreams of America, now available on VOD with a deluxe blu-ray edition coming from VinegarSyndrome.com this week!
