Marvel Brings Manwha to the US with ‘Avengers K’

Thanks to Mish’al Samman, I have seen Marvel US comics translated into Japanese, but I don’t know how embraced they’ve been. This seems like an interesting move when business journals have recently touted the world-wide market penetration of Attack on Titan, at over 65 million. That’s a title that is translated, not licensed to other creators, though there will be an ‘Americanized’ one-shot coming later in 2016.

Do American publishers need to localize their concepts in foreign markets, with the reverse not being necessary? Without having read this manwha, I am not commenting on its quality, more just pondering what it takes for the comics versions of popular characters to achieve true world-wide acceptance. Maybe the more accurate question is – what does world-wide acceptance look like?
