Matinee Heroes on The African Queen

Matinee Heroes on the African Queen

After all the times I’ve taken the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland, you’d think I’d have seen The African Queen by now. Thanks to Craig Price and Elisabeth Rappe at Matinee Heroes, I finally have. They let me join them for a conversation about the John Huston/Humphrey Bogart/Katharine Hepburn classic, and we emerged from the river of discourse changed.

Or as Craig describes it on the Matinee Heroes website:

After her missionary brother is killed in WWI Africa, A prim and proper spinster reluctantly accepts help from a rough-around-the-edges steamer captain to escape the danger. But when he offers only safe passage, she convinces him to join her in a daring mission to destroy a German gunboat. As they journey down the river, they bicker and clash at every turn, but their time together leads to a surprising and passionate romance.

Craig, Elisabeth and Fanboy Planet’s Derek McCaw talk about 1st time viewings, dream destinations, Humphry Bogart in color and the movie “The African Queen” on this week’s Matinee Heroes.

Please listen in on the conversation here.
