Miracleman Returns Again

Miracleman returns again

Every time Marvel promises Miracleman returns again, we get a little closer. At this point, I’m inclined to put on the flying goggles of Rocket J. Squirrel as Bullwinkle says, “this time for sure!” But this sure is further than it’s ever gotten. As promised in the comic Timeless, we’re getting new stories of Miracleman. I’ve seen Amazon listing that [amazon text=an omnibus collecting the original unfinished epic from Warrior and Eclipse Comics&asin=130294729X] is on its way.

After many many years of fits, starts, and unfulfilled promises, Miracleman is back. At Marvel, and interestingly not nor will ever be called Marvelman. I don’t care about that as much as I care about re-reading the epic and seeing it finally finish. To be fair to Marvel, they did release individual reprint issues in the interim, and as the character hadn’t been anchored to the Marvel Universe, new fans may have ignored them.

However, fans love anniversaries. It’s the 40th anniversary of Marvelman/Miracleman! Despite a purposeful resemblance to other classic golden age supermen, I promise you, Miracleman is different. Not just different, but great in its own right. There’s a reason all the talent listed below, plus cover artist Alan Davis, eagerly jumped on this project. Everyone wants to touch Miracleman.

From Marvel:

Forty years ago, Miracleman’s modern era began and changed the world of comics as we know it! Now, as Marvel Comics prepares for a startling new era of the iconic hero, some the industry’s greatest writers and artists will celebrate all things Kimota alongside Miracleman visionaries Neil Gaiman and Mark Buckingham in MIRACLEMAN #0! The giant-sized one-shot will boast new stories by Marvel superstars Jason Aaron and Mike Carey, legendary writer/artist Ty Templeton, acclaimed artist Ryan Stegman, and more! Plus Neil Gaiman and Mark Buckingham will deliver an exciting prelude to their upcoming new chapter of Miracleman!
