Just in case you need your appetite whetted for this fall’s Kraken, Monster Forge Productions spent the summer preparing a lot of oldies but goodies for you to read for free on GlobalComix.com. Jumping around some of the darkest times of the last century, the Monster Forge line-up features all-star creators and lots of monsters. It’s kind of in the name.
The common thread is Monster Forge chief Shannon Eric Denton, digitally remastering work originally published at other imprints. His collaborators include the late great Keith Giffen, G. Willow Wilson, and artist Matt Jacobs. How much would you pay for this much cool stuff? How about free? Through GlobalComix, it’s possible.
Expanded for one of Denton’s original stories for Komikwerks, ACES: Curse of the Red Baron smashes together a love of pulps, war epics, and the supernatural.
Set against the grisly backdrop of World War I, ACES follows a sharp-shooting British flying ace and a cunning American infantryman who defy death and desertion to chase a myth. After looting a mysterious map from the corpse of the legendary Red Baron, the unlikely duo sets off on a perilous journey through enemy lines, disappearing islands, secret societies, and spectral horrors — including the vengeful ghost of the Red Baron himself.
“We built Aces to be the comic book equivalent of jumping out of a flaming biplane into a shark tank and still lighting a cigar on the way down,” said Shannon Eric Denton. “It’s reckless, relentless fun — and we’re thrilled a whole new generation can now experience it on GlobalComix.”
With stunning art and blistering pace, ACES: Curse of the Red Baron has earned acclaim from industry pros:
“It’s a war comic on super-serum steroids and with Denton’s trademark humor interlaced with the action one has to know that it is a page turner from that very first issue.”
— Zander Cannon, artist of Alan Moore’s SMAX“ACES is the best, classic war film that was never made.”
— Adam Freeman, co-creator of The Highwaymen & Monster Attack NetworkNow fully remastered for its digital debut, ACES is locked, loaded, and ready to recruit new readers around the world. Read it now — exclusively on GlobalComix. https://globalcomix.com/c/aces
Tabula Rasa also came roaring out in August, but if you’ve already tasted what Monster Forge Productions has to offer, you won’t quite be going in with a blank slate. You know it’s going to be fun.
Tabula Rasa follows a dying cop whose soul is mystically transferred into a nearly indestructible clay version of himself. With only seven days to solve his own murder and exact vengeance before his soul is lost forever, the reanimated detective must confront not only the mystery of his death—but what it means to truly live.
The visually arresting series features art by the late Matt Jacobs, whose work on Tabula Rasa has continued to earn acclaim for its gritty, visceral energy.
“Tabula Rasa is one of the most fun and powerful stories I’ve had the privilege to tell,” said co-creator Shannon Eric Denton. “It’s about loss, legacy, and redemption… and now, thanks to GlobalComix, it finally gets a second life of its own.”
With its sharp writing, mythic undertones, and haunting visuals, Tabula Rasa remains as relevant and riveting as ever. The digital release makes this long out-of-print title accessible to a whole new generation of readers.

One I remember from Image Comics, Brother Bedlam, promises to be Blade meets The DaVinci Code.
“Keith and I didn’t hold back,” said co-writer Shannon Eric Denton. “Brother Bedlam is packed with explosive moments, but it also asks big questions — about faith, about duty, about what we’re willing to fight for when everything’s on the line.”
The story follows a man of the cloth turned reluctant warrior, caught between divine purpose and personal doubt, as he races to unravel a conspiracy that could end the world.
“This isn’t your typical hero’s journey,” Denton added. “It’s dark, it’s raw, and it’s unapologetically original. Fans of supernatural action are in for something special. Matt’s epic visuals are a cinematic treat.”
Brother Bedlam is now available to read digitally at GlobalComix.com and brings a cult favorite back into the spotlight for longtime fans and new readers alike.
And then Monster Forge visits The Battle of the Bulge with that Monster Forge twist, as Denton and Giffen teamed with artists JJ Dzialowski and Frederico Dallocchio for Common Foe.
A battle-weary squad of American soldiers. A ruthless German platoon. Natural enemies locked in a savage clash amid snow, steel, and blood. But when an ancient, inhuman force awakens from beneath the frostbitten soil, these two bitter foes must unite or die screaming in the snow.
“With Common Foe, Denton and Giffen have taken the war comic and given it the best twist I’ve seen in a few decades. Highly enjoyable and gripping stuff.”
— Ed Brubaker (Criminal, Captain America)“…the combination of classic horror and smash-mouth war comics never fails to deliver. Bravo!”
— Phil Hester (Green Arrow, The Coffin)“An inspiring genre mash-up. When it begins, you think you’re reading an excellent hard-boiled war comic, then the floor drops out from beneath you and you realize that the term ‘horrors of war’ has shadings that most of us have never considered.”
— Dwayne McDuffie (Static Shock, Justice League Unlimited)“A war comic with a twist. Visceral and guttural. This team provides a great slow burn tale that eventually explodes in a glorious orgy of vampire violence.”
— Joe Casey (Ben 10, Godland)Featuring a haunting cover by Esad Ribić (Thor: God of Thunder, Secret Wars) and an exclusive foreword from horror icon Steve Niles (30 Days of Night), this rerelease is more than a return—it’s a resurrection.
“Survive the night… or feed what’s coming.”
COMMON FOE is now available digitally via GlobalComix, remastered and more terrifying than ever.
