The first official trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania arrived, and it does indeed speak of Kangs and Conquerors. Or rather, one Kang THE Conqueror. Maybe that won’t be eminently clear to Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) at first, but no doubt will be by the end. It also looks like we’ll finally get the answer to “how did Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) survive so long in the Quantum Realm?”

The answer, of course, is that she wasn’t alone.

With the Quantum Realm standing in for a couple of different possibilities in the regular Marvel comics universe, it’s a safe bet that Kang is only one of the possible threats Ant-Man and the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) will face alongside Scott’s now grown daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton). Maybe something in the Q-Realm will empower Cassie as Stature.

One place the Quantum Realm stands in for is the Microverse. Home to a toy line that Marvel no longer has rights to, the publisher had also folded in an old villain who manipulates emotions, Psycho Man. As far as the internet knows, we actually don’t know who Bill Murray plays, but he’s clearly in a cantina in the Quantum Realm. Let’s offer the possibility that that’s who he is. Disguised in a more humanoid form, it would work in case Murray doesn’t come back for further Marvel appearances.

There’s also a character on IMDb listed as “Crystal Man,” so let me throw out my wish that somehow, somehow, Marvel Studios is dipping into another obscure toy line that they do still have limited rights to: Crystar the Crystal Warrior. Look, it’s a long shot, and though extra-dimensional, it’s not the other likely realm: the Negative Zone. Both the Microverse and the Negative Zone first popped up in The Fantastic Four, so watch for seeds being laid for that team here. In at least one reality, Kang is Reed Richards’ ancestor and/or descendant.

Time travel gets tricky.

Saving the best for last. No matter how you slice it, the villain to watch will be Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror. He’s destined to float around several MCU films before facing off against the assembled might of the Avengers. But which Avengers?
