Creating a horror icon

When you launch a new comic, saying you’re creating a new horror icon makes a bold statement. But after I announcedĀ The Matron at the IPI Comics panel at Comic-Con, co-creator and co-writer Drew Edwards offered up that description. Of course I had to connect with Drew and David Bowles, neither of whom had been able to go to Comic-Con. I had to know more.

Along with artist Jose Melendez, Bowles and Edwards dig deep into Texas history (and geography) forĀ The Matron, a generational serial killer that yes, just may be a new icon. She certainly has the look that can fill a thousand Spirit stores with a cool costume. But let me let the writers tell it for themselves…
