SDCC 2025: The Vampire Lestat in 2026

The Vampire Lestat in 2026

We won’t get to see The Vampire Lestat until 2026, but it’s good to know that they’ve renamed Interview with the Vampire for the third season. Because Lestat de Lioncourt wouldn’t have been happy otherwise. The actor playing him, Sam Reid, would have probably taken it more affably.

Yesterday at Comic-Con, Reid joined executive producer Marc Johnson, showrunner and executive producer Rolin Jones, actors Jacob Anderson (Louis de Pointe du Lac), and Eric Bogosian (Daniel Molloy) onstage to share an inside look at the latest chapter in Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe.

Let’s not forget the real linchpin of this season: composer Daniel Hart. The Vampire Lestat lives or dies on Hart’s music. It’s a story that defeated Elton John, after all. When Anne Rice wrote the original novel, she set Lestat up as the ultimate rock star. Not in terms of hedonism, but in terms of music that gripped the world. Easy to put in the pages of a novel, hard to translate to TV. From what little we’ve heard (at last year’s SDCC), Hart makes it believable.

On top of a behind-the-scenes look, the production team revealed:

  • The return of Delainey Hayles and Assad Zaman
  • Jennifer Ehle (Lioness), in the role of “Gabriella” (editor’s note: Lestat’s mother — yes, even vampires have mommy issues.)
  • Ella Ballentine (Black Conflux), in the role of “Baby Jenks”
  • Jeanine Serralles (Apples Never Fall), in the role of “Christine Claire”
  • Christopher Heyerdahl (Under the Banner of Heaven), in the role of “Marius”
  • Damien Atkins (Slings & Arrows), in the role “Magnus”

AMC+ didn’t get specific as to when we’ll see The Vampire Lestat, other than to say 2026. (We have to learn more about the Talamasca first?) While I’m hoping for sooner than later, I also want them to take the time to do it right. Which they will.
