SDCC 2025: The Wonderful Thing About Jim Cummings

The Wonderful Thing About Jim Cummings

Whether you knew it or not, you grew up hearing the voice of actor Jim Cummings. On his podcast “Toon’d In” page, he’s described as the voice of your childhood. Able to voice both Winnie the Pooh and Tigger, Cummings’ stylings extend to characters as diverse as Darkwing Duck and Hondo Ohnaka — so you’ve heard him when you’ve visited Disney’s Galaxy’s Edge. And oh yes, his singing voice stepped in where Jeremy Irons’ couldn’t in The Lion King.

At Comic-Con to celebrate both his long career and that of his friend, legendary animator Andreas Dejas, Cummings sat down with me at the Hilton Bayfront. We talked about his podcast, of course, but also about his quest to raise the profile of voice acting, and his advice for those starting out. He slipped a few characters in as well. Enjoy!
