We have to wait a whole year, as Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale’s Spider-Man Blue gets a Gallery Edition next summer. But it will be worth the wait, and worth the expense. It’s just a shame this hadn’t happened before Sale’s recent passing. The brilliant comics artist collaborated with Loeb on several “color” series focusing on different Marvel characters, and like their work for DC, they are works of beauty. A little melancholy, too, as the books provided character insight while filling in some white spaces in classic stories.
I’ve never gone in for an oversized gallery edition, but for art this impactful, I may have to succumb.
