When City Lights Theater Company in San Jose put out the call for “true ghost stories,” I had to answer. Back in 2020, I’d submitted my short horror tale “Sarcophagus” to their annual Spooky Lights podcast, and though I’ve since relocated to Southern California, City Lights will always feel like my “home” theater. Thus I was pleased they liked my new story, a true one I’ve told many times to people.
It happened in the Summer of 1985. It involves a haunted nutcracker. And for now, that’s all you need to know except that I recorded my segment with the brilliant audio producer George Psarras. He’s also a brilliant actor; in addition to a featured role in Pixar’s Onward, George has a feature film hitting the festival circuit soon.
