The Fantastic Four: First Steps First Trailer

The Fantastic Four: First Steps

Presented in FantastiVision, it’s theĀ Fantastic Four: First StepsĀ first trailer. After three different takes on Marvel’s first family, will this make you squee? Just maybe. It will definitely make you long for a different aesthetic to American life. Here, the Fantastic Four are beloved heroes to an alternate 1960s. Kids wear masks of The Thing that top anything Ben Cooper released. The cars have that future look.

Those first steps into space, the new frontier, seem to have also attracted the attention of Galactus (Ralph Ineson) — looking like the classic Jack Kirby-designed Galactus in a quick glimpse from the back. We’ve even got H.E.R.B.I.E., though your mileage may vary. Marvel, director Matt Shakman, writers Peter Cameron, Josh Friedman, and Jeff Kaplan have brought the Fantastic Four that launched the Marvel Age.

Will it relaunch the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Notice something. You can’t escape seeing Ben Grimm (Eben Moss-Bachrach) as The Thing. Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal) and Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) talk through hers and Johnny’s (Joseph Quinn) powers. We get that Ben has always been a rock, Sue is right here, and Johnny is Johnny. But we don’t see Reed be Mister Fantastic. Nice that this teaser still leaves something to be teased.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps opens July 25, 2025 — smack dab in the middle of Comic-Con so I expect those Thing masks to be everywhere.
