All I know about The Great Garloo comes from listening to Howard Stern. He has to know about this, right? Stern’s favorite most begged for toy as a child was this lizard-like alien. One of many similar mechanical toys of the early 1960s, it walked, it whirred, and let’s suppose it looked cool.
The Nacelle Company has had plans for The Great Garloo for a few years. Reviving “forgotten” toys both as action figures and comics, the Nacelleverse teamed with Oni Press to bring us this prince among kaiju. (The character did appear in an anthology that kicked off the Nacelleverse.) Though Garloo gets the solo spotlight, he’ll still be supported by Roboforce, Biker Mice from Mars, and the Sectaurs.
Unsurprisingly, this savvy production company also has plans for animated series in 2025. Of these IPs, The Great Garloo stands out because he’s a good 30 years older than the others. I remember comics and at least one animated series featuring the other properties, but Garloo is pretty much a blank slate. Which means, of course, there’s a lot of room for imagination to play with this comic book.
From Oni Press in all its bombast:

We’ve put Garloo through the wringer for his first outing and I can’t wait for everyone to see that this toy is not to be played with!”
