Assuming that 1966 means one thing to you like it means to us: BATMAN!
Earth-2 celebrates the success of DC’s long overdue sensation Batman ’66 with a huge party! On Thursday, October 17th, you can join the party at the Sherman Oaks location and meet the man who was born to write this book, Jeff Parker!
It’s a bit of a triumphant return for Parker, who many years ago designed the logo for the store that you see just to the right of this article! Since creating that bold image, Parker has gone on to write X-Men: First Class (the ongoing series, not the movie) and Agents of ATLAS. Soon he’ll be taking over Aquaman, and then he might just get too big to do the Batusi in public. Catch him while you can!
The party will be at a nice kid-friendly 5 to 7 p.m., and in addition to Parker offering sage advice to the young citizens of Sherman Oaks just like Batman, the store will have cosplayers as Batman, Robin and Batgirl. Prizes will be offered for a Bat-trivia contest! (The Zorlak will be stuck in Northern California.)
And as if Bat-themed cookies weren’t enough, you can also show off your Batusi skills in a dance contest. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you can get a LESSON in hwo to Batusi before entering the contest.
All in all, it sounds like a great time at a great store with a great creator, and since I can’t go, maybe you can.
So check it out. Once again, that’s Earth-2 Comics, 15017 Ventura Boulevard in Sherman Oaks. Tell ’em Derek sent you.
