One man. Thirteen incarnations. It’s a shared universe with endless possibilities – and no doubt Marvel understands this with Spider-Verse. (Come to think of it, Marvel published a few Doctor Who comics in the 70s.)
On the heels of last week’s successful launch of comics featuring Paul McGann’s Eighth Doctor, Titan Comics has announced that they will launch a book in March featuring the arguably most popular (and inarguably longest-running) Doctor of them all: The Fourth Doctor, played by Tom Baker. It’s a mini-series, which is a smart move to see if modern fans will bite – and they probably will.
Set in Victorian England, “Gaze of the Medusa” is described thus:
A mysterious woman commands a hidden army in a house of the blind. Scryclops stalk the streets… and something alien and terrible screams from prehistory — with a hunger that cannot be satisfied!
I love the monster name “Scryclops.” Titan did not release a hard street date for the book, created by Gordon Rennie, Emma Beeby, and Brian Williamson. We just know March, and our only plea is to please alternate it with the other books – those weeks with all the Doctors can make it hard at the comics shop!
