Negasonic Teenage Warhead Goes Solo

Negasonic Teenage Warhead goes solo

I was wearing a new Secret Wars polo at House of Secrets. Store owner Paul and I started talking about Marvel’s timing with books. The film Avengers: Secret Wars should hit theaters in 2027, but what would really help comics shops is if comics tying into MCU news were available right when people are talking about them. Maybe not today, but about 3 or 4 months before Secret Wars hits theaters, re-release the trade collection so retailers have a chance.

Why talk about that when this is about Negasonic Teenage Warhead? Marvel did a pretty good job of having a Deadpool & Wolverine comic out before the theatrical release, though it has nothing to do plot-wise with the movie. At least Negasonic Teenage Warhead #1 will have more of a connection — yes, though it’s her first solo title, Deadpool will show up, and she’s fighting against the TVA. Someone walking into a shop will have some basic familiarity with the concepts, though they might not remember who Negasonic Teenage Warhead is.

(Kudos to Ryan Reynolds for elevating the character, but he fell into the usual mistake the MCU makes: not having minor heroes names said out loud so an audience might connect. See Iron Man 2 where NO ONE calls Natasha Black Widow.)

The problem is, this book doesn’t hit shops until November 6. Maybe that’s in time for the home video release? Will there BE a home video release? With Disney, it’s hard to predict. I applaud the book existing; it just should have been in shops this week at the latest.

From Marvel:

Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s first-ever solo story arrives at your local comic shop this November! The X-Men character, who became a breakout star thanks to her appearances in the Deadpool films, was spotlighted in an acclaimed arc of Marvel’s Voices Infinity Comic on Marvel Unlimited last year. Now, that entire saga by writer Andrew Wheeler and artist Carola Borelli will be collected in print of the first time in NEGASONIC TEENAGE WARHEAD #1. This one-shot will also include an all-new Negasonic adventure by Wheeler and artist Eleonora Carlini! This whirlwind story sees the young reality-warping telepath team up with Deadpool against the TVA in the name of love!

Negasonic Teenage Warhead goes solo

Ellie Phimister is under arrest! When the Time Variance Authority accuses Negasonic Teenage Warhead of a crime she has yet to commit, she’ll have to go on the run to stop herself before the TVA does. It all comes down to a single moment in time, a choice Future-Ellie must face… Which means Now-Ellie has one hour to find Yuki Ohara, her girlfriend from the future who she’s never met, kiss her and save the Multiverse. Good thing she has allies like – wait, no. Deadpool is NOT going to be helpful. Is anyone else available?!

Check out all-new covers by artists Paco Medina and Audrey Mock and preorder NEGASONIC TEENAGE WARHEAD #1 at your local comic shop today!

If this book interests you, do as they say — get to your local comic shop today and tell them you want this in November!
