"A Shadow Called Danger" Begins Here!

A Shadow Called Danger begins here

For almost two decades, I’ve known Mike Wellman as both comics expert and expert comics writer. With artist Rafael Navarro he co-created the time-traveling cosmic western Guns A’Blazin’, which hopefully still has life somewhere as a ridiculously fun book. But now Wellman has gotten a little more serious along with veteran animator Bradley Rader.

When they started their webcomic “A Shadow Called Danger,” they were reading the tenor of the nation. Set in an alternate present-day dystopia — or at least it was originally — the strip posits a world where the violence of January 6 worked and DJT never left office. Two years afterward, a vigilante does what he can to set things right.

It’s been a long time since Fanboy Planet has run a webcomic, but this one felt too important to not. Both Wellman and Rader granted me permission to run their strip here — it’s so far been posted to Facebook and Instagram and they’re looking for hard copy publication sometime this summer. In the meantime, I’ll post episodes weekly until caught up with their output. At Wellman’s suggestion, we start today with 4 strips that serve as introduction before the action really begins.
