Celebrating 25 Years of Halloween Man

Celebrating 25 Years of Halloween Man

‘Tis the season, and it’s great to be combining superheroics with horror by design. 25 years ago, writer Drew Edwards launched Halloween Man into the new world of webcomics, and he’s still going strong. To celebrate, Red 5 Comics worked with Drew to create Volume 1 of what they hope will be an ongoing series of collections reprinting the best of the half-zombie half-superhero character’s adventures.

At Comic-Con this past summer, I hosted a panel with Drew and fellow Texan creators David Bowles and Shannon Eric Denton. But as fun as that was, it didn’t focus on the upcoming book. So Drew and I sat down last week to talk about working with Red 5, creating a character that can walk in so many worlds and styles, and spotlighting local folklore over better known monsters.

You can pick up Volume 1 of Halloween Man at your local comics shop the first week of October, or from Bookshop.org through Fanboy Planet.
