Ahsoka Trailer Lands

The first Ahsoka trailer lands today, confirming a few things long rumored and promising a few new reasons for excitement. At least, from a certain point of view. It’s firmly focused on the remains of the Jedi, though not Luke Skywalker. It wouldn’t be surprising if he shows up in the series somewhere, though. Rosario Dawson takes center stage as Ahsoka Tano, a Jedi who survived the purge of Order 66.

First voiced by Ashley Eckstein in the animated series  Clone Wars and Rebels, Ahsoka made the leap to live-action in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. There she had dialogue implying that she was hunting for Admiral Thrawn, and the trailer teases his presence without confirming his casting. We all know the real mastermind is Dave Filoni.

We do get Mary-Elizabeth Winstead revealed as Hera Syndall, revolutionary leader. Ray Stevenson plays a new unnamed Sith Lord. Nice to know they’re still around. Natasha Liu Bordizzo brings Rebels character Sabine Wren to life, and also long-rumored, Ezra Bridger appears in live-action played by Eman Esfani.

At this point, I don’t want to know more. I just want to watch the series. Okay, I do want to know more. Show me Thrawn’s face! UPDATE 4/8/2023: Lars Mikkelsen, who voiced Thrawn in Rebels, will play him in Ahsoka.

Ahsoka streams on Disney+ in August.
