Ryan Reynolds called it “Deadpool Update, Part Hugh,” so we’ll freely borrow that pun, too. Deadpool 3 is happening. This is no elaborate hoax. While Reynolds may have been sorry to miss D23 Expo where he might have announced this, he was wise. As Cinemablend pundit Stephen Libbey noted, this announcement dominated everything else in nerd culture yesterday.
This morning, Reynolds and Hugh Jackman followed up with a video to answer fans’ questions. Logan takes place in 2029, so no, Deadpool 3 doesn’t contradict anything that happened in James Mangold’s film. Most of us figured that out. As for your other questions, clearly they wanted to answer. Really, they did.
Deadpool 3 opens September 6, 2024.
On his YouTube channel, Reynolds added, “we can do this all day.” So if Shawn Levy’s film does fit firmly in the MCU, which is admittedly only assumption, please let there be an appearance by the cast of “Rogers the Musical.” If they can bring it to D23 Expo, they can bring it to Deadpool 3. Though let’s face it: Jackman should be the one singing it.
Still no word on when “Rogers: The Musical” opens on Broadway. Some of us have been waiting since the 70s.
