Hanging at the Monster Drive-In with David Hartman

Hanging at the Monster Drive-In

David Hartman has spent time animating Transformers and other beloved kids’ properties. As his directing Phantasm Ravager proves, though, he’s really all about horror. The proof lies in what I hope is an endless series of graphic novels under the umbrella title of Monster Drive-In. Volume 2, Hunchback of Naughty Dames, just launched on Kickstarter.

For those who need to find his work in comics shops proper, you can find his collaborations with Shannon Eric Denton in the Monster Forge Universe. Kraken came out in late 2025, and Spectors will arrive soon in shops. Both are from Titan Comics.

We spoke last week about Monster Drive-in, loving cheesy horror films, and of course, how awesome Hunchback of Naughty Dames is going to be. Along the way, there’s also tribute to understanding parents who let kids read classic horror comics and MAD. It explains so much, and we all benefit from it.
