Quietly shepherded to Warner Brothers by Dark Horse Entertainment, where President Mike Richardson loves, loves, LOVES Tarzan, this could be the Tarzan that fans of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ novels have waited for their whole lives. Each adaptation has a piece worth loving. I might except Tarzan and the Lost City, but The Legend of Tarzan may have just proved that the world wasn’t yet ready for Tarzan to be wearing short pants instead of a loincloth. Oh, Casper Van Dien, you were a pioneer.
The only thing that this and the previous trailer does to jar me is have Samuel L. Jackson; his rhythms just seem off from the other voices we hear — John Hurt as Professor Porter, Margot Robbie as Jane Porter, and Christoph Waltz as Generic But Memorable European Villain Trying To Destroy Africa. That may sound snarky, but let’s face it — that’s what we WANT out of a Tarzan movie. As long as director David Yates does it right…
Once again, 2016 has way too much nerdy goodness going for it.
