The Apocalyptic ‘X-Men Apocalypse’ Trailer

It’s fascinating how far we’ve come since the 2000 release of Bryan Singer’s original X-Men. The look has changed, the powers have increased, and the plots have embraced how out there Marvel’s merry mutants can get. Though it’s clear that Jennifer Lawrence’s stardom has affected the character arc of Mystique, it’s a small quibble when the rest of the movie looks so magnificently, wonderfully insane.

I think we’re also going to see a good arc for Cyclops and Jean Grey. They may not grow into being the characters we met in that first film so long ago (the timeline has utterly changed), but they are going to become characters worth caring about for a few more films, along with Storm and possibly Psylocke. (I’m pretty sure we’re seeing the swan song for Mystique, mainly because Lawrence is just so in demand.)
