Tarzan Likes It Hot

Tarzan likes it hot

Whether it’s sauce or coffee, Tarzan likes it hot. Who knew?

Apparently, the people behind Jade City Foods had a hunch. Today, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. announced their partnership with the food company in the form of a line of hot sauces and coffee varieties. To add heat to the deal, the hot sauce labels feature art by the legendary Frank Frazetta. Thus, it’s a food item and a collectible.

While it’s unclear who determined which sauce should have which label, the results look great. However, I can’t help but imagine the meeting involving the taste tests, and envision former Tarzan Casper Van Dien hosting it.

The varieties are:

  • Tarzan’s Land of Terror – Blue Raspberry Habanero Sauce with a heat level of 6 out of 10.
  • Tarzan’s The Invincible – Coconut Habanero Sauce with a heat level of 6 out of 10.
  • Tarzan’s The Lion – Pineapple Habanero Sauce with a heat level of 6 out of 10.
  • Tarzan’s Jungle Heat – Yellow Ghost Pepper and Serrano with a heat level of 10 out of 10.

and one definitely after Korak at the Earth’s Core author Win Scott Eckert’s heart,

  • The Son of Tarzan’s Born of Fire – Ghost Scorpion and Reaper Peppers with a heat level of 10 out of 10.

At least they’re all zero calories, probably because those last two may well go through so fast there’s no time to absorb any. However, you may let out Tarzan’s classic yell.

But how about that coffee, each bag which features a classic Tarzan movie poster?

  • Kerchak Blend – Light Roast (Does Kerchak know about this?)
  • Kavuru Blend – Medium Roast
  • Mangani Blend – Dark Roast

Jade City has an interesting business model aimed squarely at fans. Nosing around their site, you can purchase more food items themed to Cuphead (naturally), Godzilla, Kevin Smith, Ultraman (!!!) and more. They’re planning to expand beyond coffee, cocoa, sauces, and salsas, so keep an eye out for the no-brainer Tarzan beef jerky.
