SDCC 2024: Tell Me How to Get to Sesame Street Comics

Tell me how to get to Sesame Street comics

Certainly it’s not the first time that international treasure Sesame Street has come to comics. Most of us agree that way back when, the Little Golden Book The Monster at the End of This Book qualifies as a graphic novel, if not the first graphic novel. (At least, it’s one of the greatest graphic novels.) But in all the understandable concerns about getting kids to read comics, it’s heartening to see a publisher re-establish this crucial link: kids read what they love, and they love Sesame Street.

On a personal note, it’s even better to see Oni Press’ Sesame Street comic focus on Grover, the quintessential Everymonster.

Oni isn’t the only publisher doing good kids’ comics with characters they love. Because I’d still remind everyone that Scholastic hasn’t exactly been losing money by publishing Dog Man volumes among other top-selling graphic novels in their catalogue. Dynamite Comics has some great Disney comics going, though that may play more to a nostalgia market.

You say Sesame Street is nostalgia? For some. But the Sesame Workshop is still out there working with the Jim Henson Company to create new shows to speak to little kids today. So take a look at this book to help bring them into reading.

From Oni Press:
