The Human Fly Hits This Summer

We promised it last summer. I checked my latest Diamond Previews catalog, and it’s real. Just in time for San Diego Comic-Con 2024, The Human Fly #0 will be available in U.S. comic shops. Australian publisher IPI Comics is about to make an impact reimagining the real-life stuntman turned superhero for a modern audience.

Writer/editor Christopher Sequeira teams with artist J. Scherpenhuizen to bring us our first look at mayhem in Montreal! They’re also expanding the (fictional) world of the Human Fly with a sidekick, a young costumed heroine named Mercury. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know who the Human Fly is from his run in Marvel Comics back in the 1970s. This issue starts a new continuity, mixing superhero action with hints of the real-life stuntman who has faded back into mystery.

To build that out a bit, Human Fly historian Tony Babinksi writes a bonus story with art by Peter Lawson. This promises an update on their search for the actual man whose story is actually pretty wild. Reserve it at your local shop now, and watch this space for more news as we get closer to SDCC 2024.
