When we last saw Carol Danvers (Brie Larsen), she’d shown up in Kamala Khan’s closet. When we last saw Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), she was adjusting to having developed powers. When we last saw Goose the Flerken (Goose the Flerken), he was playing with Nick Fury’s eye. Oh, that Goose. If the first trailer for The Marvels can be trusted, we’re about to see a whole lotta Flerkens. And lots more Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani).
The reason Carol showed up in Kamala’s closet is that somehow they changed places. The trailer also implies that all three women will be swapping locations at random and inconvenient times. Looks like Skrulls, maybe — with release dates also swapped, it’s not clear when The Marvels takes place in relation to the upcoming Disney+ series Secret Invasion. At least we still have Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). And we definitely have some Kree. Shall we say they’re all entangled?
As The Marvels opens in November, you have plenty of time to catch up on Wandavision and Ms. Marvel. Also, just in case you like doing these kinds of things, catch director Nia DaCosta’s previous film, Candyman. Different vibe perhaps, but worth your time.
