It’s been over two years since actor Shawn Patrick Boyd launched Winona Forever on Kickstarter. We’d first met at Cinequest, where he had a memorable role in the sci fi mindbender Nina of the Woods. Shawn stayed in touch, and we talked about comics and then he was launching one with artist Elijah Henry. And four issues later, he has a full graphic novel that is gaining in readership.
Back in October, I asked him if he wanted to sit down again as a sort of a victory lap. While he agreed, it’s clear he’s far from done with the medium. We didn’t get into it in this interview, but he’s not done with the supernaturally exaggerated small town of his youth. Soon we’ll see Winona Lost. But first, he’s got a trade collection to produce.
