No Crying In Superheroes: Rich Koslowski Talks F.A.R.M. System

No crying in superheroes

There may be no crying in superheroes, but if they were real, there’d have to be heartbreak. Award-winning creator Rich Koslowski pondered what would happen if Branch Rickey’s farm system for baseball players were applied to superheroes. What constitutes the major leagues? And what constitutes being on a AA team? How far can I go before I’ve run out of my baseball knowledge?

Though he had some creative stops along the way, Koslowski eventually created F.A.R.M. System, an upcoming graphic novel (and promised series) from Koslowski and Top Shelf Productions. A couple of weeks back, he and I met up via Zoom to talk about this book and the themes running through his personal work. Running from Three Fingers to now, he’s a creator who knows pop culture and that maybe we should all have an uneasy relationship with it. We also take side trips into winemaking, Hollywood Babylon, and of course, a brief lesson in baseball history.

Enjoy the conversation…

F.A.R.M. System arrives in bookstores (and Amazon) on November 8.
