This is one of the best deals that comics companies could offer, and it bothers me that they don’t do it more often — Marvel in particular, considering how expensive some of their trade paperbacks can be. I liked it when they gathered up the original Rocket Raccoon stories for only $8 in a comic book. Let’s train a new set of readers to be what we were once — just readers, enjoyers of comics, before it all became about what it could turn around for on eBay.
Marvel has selected ten high points — your mileage may vary — from the multitude of Deadpool appearances in the last two decades. The reprint of New Mutants #98 – Deadpool’s first appearance — may be an adjustment as the pieces of the character are there, but it’s not the Deadpool that sells merchandise like crazy at Hot Topic. They’re all a different kind of fun, with my personal favorite being “The Groovy Deadpool.” But be warned: that one will get you hooked on Gerry Duggan and Brian Posehn’s run, and you’ll end up buying the trade paperbacks.
