From Disney to Kingslayer Protocol: a Conversation with Chris Yates

From Disney to Kingslayer Protocol

After a career managing IP for other agencies, Chris Yates wondered what he actually wanted to do with his life. He came up with two things, and you’ll have to watch the interview for the other. The one we really want to talk about is his first comic book. Collaborating with rising star artist Simone Ragazzoni, Yates created Marcus Walker: Kingslayer Protocol, launching March 3rd on on Kickstarter.

Yates had me by comparing it to Big Hero 6 and Ultraman Rising in his press release. At its heart, the book tackles family conflicts and growing up. That’s after the mecha vs. kaiju action brought to life by Ragazzoni, who cut his teeth on books like Power Rangers.

The official description reads:

As the war wages on between Kaijus and Kingslayer Mechs in New Honolulu City, Marcus Walker is forced into hiding under the watchful eye of his authoritative family, determined to protect him. This unexpected turn of events forces Marcus to confront the relentless dangers of his choices head on as the sinister forces dredge up old secrets from his bloodline’s past and threaten his future.

Watch the interview and get ready to back Marcus Walker’s journey.
