Skybound Entertainment sent me down a rabbit hole last Saturday. After reading their take on The Phantom of the Opera, I had to make sure I was referencing the right version in my thoughts. So out came the blu-ray of the 1943 version with Claude Rains, including watching an historical retrospective. I barely escaped without watching Phantom of the Paradise — a worthy version but the clock was ticking. (Also check back on my conversation with Chris Robinson — we talked about the Phantom there, too.)
Yet I managed to read everything in my stack from House of Secrets. To grossly misquote the late Neil Sedaka, catching up is hard to do. But I did it. Some great stuff hit the stores last Wednesday, and if you think I missed something, please let me know.
